Broussard Police Department gets permanent prescription take-back box

The Advertiser - In the six months the prescription take-back box has been in the Broussard Police Department, it's already had to be emptied.

"It means a lot to us that the public is coming out and making use of these kinds of things," said Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou at a press conference Monday.

The box, which allows anyone to drop off unwanted or expired prescriptions, can hold about 25 pounds of pills. It was placed at the police department through a partnership with Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry's office and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
