Local help for opioid dependency is standing by

KTBS - According to the CDC, in 2012, health care providers wrote 269 million prescriptions for opioid pain medication; enough for every adult in the United States to have a bottle of pills.

Seventy-eight Americans a day die from opioid drug overdoses, which are the leading cause of accidental death.

“We started seeing opioid addiction back in 2001,” Executive Director of the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of Northwest Louisiana Bill Rose said. “Now we have comprehensive treatment available.”
